1.1 [Work in Progress] Thesis 1: Major Project / Thesis Materials

At the beginning, I used brainstorming to select my 20 keywords. First, I listed my topics and target audience in my notebook. I started my divergent thinking based on the two words "sustainable" in my topic and "Chinese young female" in the target audience. In the end, I chose the four keywords "Floral", "Lively", "Geometry", and "minimalistic" as the direction for selecting pulls. The reason for choosing the word "Floral" is that I think that although my thesis is mainly about clothing, sustainability is more important. The raw materials for making clothing are closely related to plants. And sustainability is also related to issues of nature and ecology. The word "Lively" came to mind based on my target audience, which is young women who exude vitality and charm. And sustainable development is also full of promising possibilities, so I think lively is appropriate as the keyword of visual system. The word “Geometry” is used because I think people need more rational thinking when buying clothing, and the difference between sustainable clothing and fast fashion clothing is that its overall characteristics are more slow-paced. So I think geometry can be used as one of the keywords. The last keyword "Minimalistic" is a word that comes to mind based on my target audience. When I was brainstorming, I thought that young Chinese women now advocate independence in life. Independence is not only reflected in daily life. It is also reflected on the spiritual level. Simplifying the steps of life and simplifying consumption are now popular among young Chinese women. Therefore minimalistic is my last keyword choice.

For my UX design spec, I'm trying to set up a sustainable clothing e-commerce platform (Mobile App) that allow target audience to buy sustainable clothing in a more convenient way. In this app, people can compare similar styles of clothing from different brands with one click. Through comparison in different dimensions, users can more clearly understand the price and sustainable potential of clothing, which can be more convincing for customers to buy sustainable clothing instead of fast fashion clothing.
